BETHEL – Alder River Grange 145 in East Bethel will host a reunion of former students of the East Bethel School, which closed in 1968 and is now residential property. The reunion will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28.
The first building on the school lot was built in the 1880s and removed in the 1920s when the present building was erected. The Grange (just west of the school) was often used for special school assemblies and seasonal programs. In the 1950s, the Grange furnished milk for noon lunches at the school.
Several former teachers are expected to be present. There will also be historical photographs, refreshments and time to reminisce. Further information may be gained from calling Nancy Mercer at 824-3350 or Stan Howe at 824-2291.
