PARIS – The First Universalist Church at 36 Pine St., South Paris, begins a new year at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 7. Marilyn Hammond will speak on “Loving Friends Together.” Jeannie Whittemore will be soloist and Forest Perkins will play the organ. Brunch follows at Good Cheer Hall. The service begins the church’s celebration of its centennial year.

Rally Day

PARIS – The First Congregational Church at 17 East Main St., South Paris, returns to its usual start time of 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 7. This will also be Sunday School Rally Day. The church is handicap accessible and child care is provided.

Guest speaker

NORWAY – The Heywood Club of Norway, celebrating 100 years, will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, at the clubhouse. Guest speaker will be Lee Dassler from the McLaughlin Foundation speaking on and asking help in saving Whit Swamp from development. Club business will be discussed and refreshments served. Scout sign-ups

WOODSTOCK – Girl Scouts of Kennebec Council Telstar Service Unit will hold two sign-up sessions. The first will be in at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Woodstock Elementary School. The second will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Crescent Park Elementary School in Bethel.

All girls in grades kindergarten to 12 are invited to join the Scouts. Parents interested in volunteering with the Girl Scouts of Kennebec Council are welcome. Parents may contact Michelle Powell at 1-207-824-4430 for more information.

Camera club

PARIS – The Oxford Hills Camera Club will begin its fall season from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 9, in room C105 at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, South Paris. Anyone interested can sign up for the club through the Adult Community Education Program or come to the meeting.

The club provides instruction and assistance to everyone who wants to improve their photography skills. Field trips are planned.

Anyone can attend two or three meetings before deciding if they would like to become a member. Club dues are payable at the meeting.
