AUBURN – The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society announces the recepient of the Sarah Agren Scholarship. This year’s scholarship was awarded to Olivia Grant.
Named for a late young volunteer of the Humane Society, the program offers a $500 scholarship to a deserving volunteer upon high school graduation.
Olivia, a volunteer at the Humane Society since 1996, is a graduate of Leavitt Area High School in Turner. This fall she will attend Becker College in Leicester, Mass., majoring in the pre-veterinary medicine program.
“Olivia has made a difference in the lives of the many animals who have come through our doors and she will be deeply missed by the staff. We wish her all the best in her college career and we know the future is bright for her,” said Steven Dosite, shelter director.
The society, located at 3312 Hotel Road, is in the middle of a capital campaign to build a new shelter. Those interested in helping can call 786-4713. Anyone interested in volunteering at the shelter or adopting an animal can visit the shelter or visit the Web site at www.gahumane.org.
