RICHMOND – A variety show will take place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, to benefit the Grange scholarship fund.

The featured act and master of ceremonies will be Bob Skoglund, “The Humble Farmer.” Local talent will include guitarist Ralph Cheney, flutist Suzanne Martin, Five Below rock band, bagpiper Chuck Kincer, and vocals by Cheryl Decker, Kendall Merriam and CJ and Mom. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door.

Seniors’ picnic

AUBURN – New Auburn Seniors will join the First Auburn Seniors for a picnic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the Tot Lot. In case of rain, the picnic will be at the Auburn Recreation Department at Pettengill Park.

New Auburn Seniors President Virginia Levasseur was in charge of a recent meeting when August birthdays were observed. Pot of gold winners were Marge Lizotte, Theresa Chabot, Yolande Labonte and Lorraine Beauchesne.

Members will go to Julien’s for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27. Anyone interested can call Levasseur. There are still seats available for the Foxwoods trip on Tuesday, May 26. Call Jean Doyon at 784-5264. The time for the regular meeting has changed from 12:30 p.m. to noon effective Wednesday, Sept. 3.

First Auburn Seniors met on Aug. 6 when bingo was played following a bag lunch. Welcomed as a guest was Verona Crafts. President Betty Hebert announced that the two September meetings will be held at the American Legion Hall on Washington Street due to repairs at Hasty Community Center.

Joyce Poole listed future trips: Wentworth By the Sea, Sept. 2; The Balsams grand buffet, Oct. 13; Radio Daze, Nov. 11 at Lantana, Randolph, Mass.; Mystery Tour, Oct. 26 to 29; and the New Year’s Extravaganza, Dec. 30 and Jan. 1 in Nashua, N.H.

Attendance winners were Phyllis Latlippe and Felix Yurkston. Pot of gold winners were Donald Fyfe, Bea Everett and Carole Randall.

Bridge results

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Monday, Aug. 11, were: N/S, first, Rolande Poulin and Nancy Farmer; second, Helen Little and George Vogt; third, Anna Vitiello and Randy Silver; first in B, Nancy Ferris and Eileen Minnehan.
