OXFORD – The Oxford Historical Society will meet Friday, Aug. 27, at the Kay House, 73 Pleasant St., for dinner and installation of officers. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Those attending should bring a hot dish or salad to share. Dessert will be furnished.
Whale watch
OXFORD – The Oxford Hills AARP, friends and families, is participating in a trip to Rye, N.H., for an afternoon whale watch on Saturday, Sept. 11. An experienced naturalist will be on board to talk about whales. Whale sightings are guaranteed.
Bring along a boxed lunch, drinks, warm jacket, hats and scarves, cameras and also motion sickness medication.

Adult rate is $63, child (4-16) rate is $53 (3 and under free). The bus, the cruise and dinner at the Weathervane Restaurant in Kittery is included. The bus leaves at 8:30 a.m. from the old Ames Plaza in Oxford and will return at 8:30 p.m.
Driving course
PARIS – A Maine Driving Dynamics course is scheduled at Oxford Hills High School from 6 to 8:30 Sept. 14 and Sept. 16. To register, call 743-8842, extension 2236. Instructor will be Larry Curtis. Musical program
BERLIN, N.H. – Mac McHale and the Old Time Radio Gang with special guest, fiddler Erica Brown, will appear at the Community Arts Center, 155 Emery St. at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19. Tickets are $10 at the door. For more information, call 752-1028.
