LISBON – Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department, E.T. Smith Hose Co., announces recent graduates from basic wildland firefighting/wildland fire behavior school sponsored by the Maine State Wildfire Training Academy.

The 32-hour course trains a firefighter to understand forest fire behavior along with instructing firefighters in the safe and effective control of wildland forest fires.

After completion of the course and passing a physical fitness and agility test, each firefighter receives a national certification and is placed on a call list of qualified firefighters eligible to fight wildland fires throughout the United States.
