RUMFORD – Expressive Movement Performing Arts Center of Rumford, owned and operated by Debbie Murphy, Dariane Dunn and Thea Dunn, will host a workshop on Saturday, Sept. 11, featuring professional dancer and choreographer Jacqui Young of DanzJam of New York City.
Young will conduct a four-hour jazz workshop for dancers ages 9 to adult at Mountain Valley High School. A two-hour session for dancers ages 9 to 13 will begin at 10 a.m. and finish at noon. The next two-hour session for dancers ages 14 and over will begin at 1 and end at 3 p.m. It is highly recommended that all dancers who wish to participate have a minimum of three years dance experience.
Young holds degrees in dance and broadcast journalism, is a member of Dance Educators of America and is a resident faculty member at Northern Essex Community College. Some of her performance credits include The Rainbow Tribe Dance Company, The West End Dance Company, Dance Rage, The Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon, The Nashville Network (TNN), DanceQuake, West Side Story, Seesaw, Melinda: The First Lady of Magic, Wild Things and Sh-Boom.
Registration will begin on Aug. 19 and will close on Sept. 4. The fee for each session will be $25 per person, and an official workshop t-shirt will be available as well. Enrollment is limited and registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
