WEST PARIS – The West Paris Historical Society will hold a giant yard and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Historical Hall, Main Street. Hot dogs and drinks will be for sale.

Special meeting
WEST PARIS – There will be a special meeting of the West Paris Old Home Days Committee at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at the Town Office Meeting Room to decide on the purchase of a used PA system. Anyone who has questions can call Harlan Abbott at 674-2385.
Annual meeting
SOUTH PARIS – The McLaughlin Foundation will hold its seventh annual meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at the foundation, 97 Main St. The public is invited. Refreshments will follow the business meeting.
At 7 p.m. Michael Murphy of Wake Robin Nursery in West Paris will give a slide presentation and lecture on “Wildflower Meadows.” This will be an opportunity to learn about the challenges and benefits of reducing lawn areas by establishing meadow environments using native plants. An $8 donation for the talk is requested. Those attending can preregister at 743-8820.

Blood drive
BRIDGTON – An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at the Bridgton Municipal Complex, 1 Chase Commons. All presenting donors will receive a T-shirt. For more information or an appointment, those interested can call the Red Cross at 1-800-482-0743.
Book sale
BUCKFIELD – A book sale will be held from now until Labor Day at the Zadoc Long Free Library, 5 Turner St. The library is open from 2 to 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Small paperbacks are 25 cents; large paperbacks, 50 cents; and hardcovers, $1. Those wishing can call 336-2171 for more information.
