CANTON – Sammy-Jo Jillette Tyler of Canton has been selected to participate in Nationals’ 2004 Miss Jr. Teen Portland pageant competition on Sunday, Sept. 5.

Tyler will compete for more than $20,000 in scholarships, prizes and specialty gifts. The Miss Jr. Teen division is one of three divisions that will have girls between age 10 and 19 competing in modeling routines in casual wear and formal wear. She will also be interviewed. Personality is the number one aspect that each contestant is judged on during all phases of competition.

The winner will represent Portland and the surrounding communities at the Cities of America National Competition in Orlando, Fla.
