AUBURN – Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner St.

The Star Point stations will be honored. A special program will be presented by Dawna Perkins, Grand Adah; Teresa Potvin, Grand Ruth; Jean Hubbard, Grand Esther; Ellen DeWitt, Grand Martha; and Patricia Rea, Grand Electa.

The meeting will be preceded by a potluck supper at 6:15 p.m. All Eastern Star members are welcome.

Library tutorial

AUBURN – The Auburn Public Library will present a tutorial designed to introduce databases that are available through Marvel’s virtual library, “MARVEL!,” from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at the library in the Auburn Mall.

The databases are provided to all Maine residents through state fundiing. There is something of interest for everyone, from students who need an magazine or newspaper article for an essay they have due to an adult looking for the latest information from Consumer Reports magazine on the best type of car to purchase to a listing authors who write in a similar style.

Bridge play

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on Aug. 31 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Winners in Flight A were: first, Bill Begert and Martine Begert; second, Fred Letourneau and Jeanine Kivus; third, David Lock and Patricia Garcia; fourth, Paul Pierce and Sharon Tyler; fifth, Anna Vitiello and Marguerite Zahoruiko; sixth, Claire Lyons and Connie Reynolds.

Winners in Flight B were: first, Larry Fortier and Eleanor Abrahams; second, Doug and Betty Sise; third, Charles Bartlett and Allie Boyer. Flight C winners were: first, Doug and Betty Sise; second, Charles Bartlett and Allie Boyer.

The club also met on Sept. 1 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners in Flight A were: first, Jeanine Kivus and Rosemarie Goodwin; second, Paul Pierce and Sharon Tyler; tied at third, Mary Leahey and Anna Cormier with Bill Begert and Martine Begert.
