RUMFORD – St. Athanasius-St. John Pre-School will hold an open house for parents of children ages 3 to 5 at the school on Friday, Aug. 27.

The school’s pre-kindergarten teacher, Bobbi Ridge, will be available from 9 a.m. to noon and from 6 to 8 p.m. for those parents who have pre-registered as well as for new registrations.

There are still a limited number of openings available for the morning sessions. People can contact Ridge at 364-2528 for more information.

Fund-raiser set

RUMFORD CENTER – The Rumford Historical Society’s Education Committee announces the total net income from the “Country Fair” on July 31 is $2,120.

The next committee fund-raiser , a concert and short play, will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Middle School auditorium.

The concert will be given by Dorrie Casey, a mezzo-soprano formerly of Mexico. Casey is now a resident of North Carolina, as are accompanist Deborah Coclanis and co-actress Meredith Sause.

Much of the concert utilizes the poetry of Edna St. Vincent Millay, set to music by various composers. Insights to the life of Millay will be interspersed among the songs.
