Work by adults and children will be on display at L-A College until Aug. 15.

LEWISTON – Art work by 75 adults and children, all students of local art teacher Mercedes Gastonguay, are featured in an exhibition in the Atrium Gallery at the University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College. The exhibition of oils, drawings, pastels, scratchboard, and watercolors will continue through Aug. 15.

Students work from still lifes in the studio, on-location landscapes and seascapes, photographs and from works by well known artists. The exhibition includes portraits, landscapes, still lifes, wildlife studies, seascapes and floral studies.

More than 400 guests attended the opening reception on June 27. Awards were given for outstanding work with one best of show ribbon and first-, second- and third-place and honorable mention awards in seven age categories.

Judges were Elaine Toutain, art coordinator for the Lewiston public elementary schools, and Ian Ormon, retired art at Edward Little High School. Winners were:

Best of Show: Marina MacDonald, 16.

Ages 8 and 9: first, John A. Peters; second, Benjamin Wigant; third, Dylan Tanguay; honorable mentions, Emily R. Conner, Erin Malone and Zoe J. Oswald.

Age 10: first, Ashley M. Rogers; second, Kelsey Philbrick; third, Hannah Rodrigue; honorable mention, Brandon Sevit.

Ages 11 and 12: first, Michael Butler; second, Joline Dubuc; third, Lyndsay Nadeau; honorable mentions, Olivia Cote and Shannon Martineau.

Age 13: first, Sasha Pavlak; second, Samantha Tanguay; third, Carolyn Jacques; honorable mention, Brittanie Partridge, Kali Anne Pulkkinen and Nicole M. Rogers.

Ages 14 and 15: first, Carla Henault; second, Heather Plourde; third, Dinesh Costlow; honorable mentions, Sara L.B. Biron, Renee Bissonnette, Melissa Guignard, Colton Jordan and Carolyn Tardif.

Ages 16, 17 and 18: first, Shantelle Vye; second, Tony Letourneau; third, Kathryn L. Gagne.

Adults: first, Ronald Bosse; second, Lorraine Lamare; third, Janet Dubois; honorable mentions, Belinda Davis and Stacey Gravel.
