AUBURN – The Child Health Center and the Maine Coalition for SAFE KIDS remind those who routinely transport children to take advantage of the Androscoggin County Child Passenger Fitting Station and make sure the safety seats are secure.

The next opportunity will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at the Auburn Police Department.

The Child Health Center brings the fitting station to the community with the support of Maine SAFE KIDS, the United Way of Androscoggin County, Maine Bureau of Highway Safety, Central Maine Medical Center and the Maine Center for Public Health.

The organizations have made it possible to offer income-eligible families free child passenger safety seats and provide the certified child passenger safety technicians that are available to inspect the seats.

The free fitting station is held the second Monday of each month at the police department. Anyone who has a question regarding child passenger safety should call the center at 782-5437 or 743-7035 or the Maine Coalition for SAFE KIDS at 1-800-649-1304.
