MECHANIC FALLS – The 114th annual Advent Christian Campmeeting Association activities get under way at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at the campgrounds on Route 121. The campmeeting provides a time of rest and spiritual rejuvenation for people of all ages. The public is invited to attend all camp activities.

The Rev. Richard Russell of Charlotte, N.C., is this year’s evangelist. He will speak at the 7 p.m. worship services Saturday through Thursday, July 5 to 10, and again Saturday, July 12. He will also preach at Sunday worship services at 10:30 a.m. July 6 and 13.

A communion service is scheduled for 9 a.m. Sunday, July 13. Bruce and Sharon Marshall of Raymond are song leaders at the services. Charles Marshall of Auburn is the organist.

The Rev. John Roller will lead Bible studies at 9:45 a.m. each weekday, July 7 to 11. A vacation Bible school will be held for children daily at 9:30 a.m.

The Rev. Harold Patterson, director of world missions for the denomination, will speak at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 10. There will also be a Teen Camp for youths ages 14 to 18. Pastor Greg Twitchell of the Oxford church will direct the camp, as well as Intermediate Camp from July 14 to 18 for youths ages 12 and 13.

Junior Camp, directed by the Rev. David Patterson and his wife, Wilma, of Highland Cliff Advent Christian Camp in Windham, will be held July 21 to 25 for ages 9 to 11. Patterson is president of the association.

The three camps are open to any youth. For registration information phone the campground at 345-9735.

A singspiration is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, July 11. All are welcome. And a baptism service is set for 2 p.m. Sunday, July 13. A special concert by the Plummer Family will wrap up the 2003 campmeeting at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 13.
