Plan supper
WINTHROP – Winthrop Grange 209 will begin its fall schedule Tuesday, Oct. 5, with potluck refreshments at 6:30 p.m. During the business meeting at 7:30 p.m., plans will be completed for the annual public harvest supper on Saturday, Oct. 16. Lecturer Stan Taylor will present the program.
Grange to install
MINOT – Members of Androscoggin Pomona Grange 1 will meet on Wednesday, Oct. 6, at West Minot Grange for supper at 6:30 p.m. Installation of officers will be conducted by State Master Steve Verrill and his team at the 7:30 p.m. meeting. An attendance drawing will be held. All members and guests are welcome.

LEWISTON – The Wallace Assembly Fourth Degree Wives will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, East Avenue. Light refreshments will be served.
Pastor to speak
LEWISTON – The Rev. Robert D. Lariviere will be the speaker for the Saints Peter and Paul Society following the 8 a.m. breakfast meeting on Sunday, Oct. 10, in the Dominican Conference Room. He will speak on “Catholics and Election Year Issues.”
Lariviere, pastor of Saints Peter and Paul Parish, is a Biddeford native, attended St. Andre School and St. Louis High School. He was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Edward O’Leary on June 17, 1978, after completing clerical studies at St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore, Md. He has served as assistant pastor and pastor in may parishes throughout the diocese of Portland.
In 1989 he earned his licentiate in sacred theology from Catholic University of America. Since then, he has served on the institutional ethics committee of St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center as well as numerous other diocesan committees.
Missions meet
LISBON FALLS – Lisbon Falls Baptist Church will hold its 43rd annual missions conference from Oct. 10 through 17.
The main speaker this year will be Otis Goodwin, outreach to Asia nations. Other missionaries are Russ and Donna Reinhart, Peru; Jason and Ita Strout, Argentina; Jan Polley, Pennsylvania; Debbie Meroff, London, England; T.A. Smith, Maine; David and Joan Mitchell, Maine.
The opening service will begin at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 10; evening service, 6:30 p.m.; and weekday services, 6:30 p.m. The church is located at 555 Lisbon Rd. on the west side of Lisbon Falls. All are invited.
Fall bazaar
AUBURN – A Fall Bazaar will benefit the Auburn Public Library from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 8 and 9, at the High Street, Congregational Church, 106 Pleasant St.
Items for sale will include antiques, jewelry, holiday items, white elephant goodies, large variety of fabrics, yarns, books, CD ROMs, videos and audio books. There will be coffee, doughnuts and muffins in the morning. The sale will be sponsored by the Auburn Public Library Centennial Committee.

Bridge results
LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club held its club championship on Sept. 28 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Winners in Flight A were: first, Bjorn Axelson and Ann Riley; second, Fred Letourneau and Martine Begert; third, Leslie Buzzell and Maude Abbott; fourth, David Lock and Luke Merry. Flight B winners were Roger Briggs and Lucille Bilodeau. Another game will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5. A partner is guaranteed.
The club also met on Sept. 29 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners of the club championship in Flight A were Jeanine Kivus and Rosemarie Goodwin; second, Lucille Theriault and Bruce Murray; third, Leslie Buzzell and Mike Quinn; fourth, Martine Begert and David Lock.
