LEWISTON – Advocates for Children, the child abuse prevention agency in Androscoggin County, will offer a 45-hour course for educators and other professionals titled “Responding to Child Abuse.”

The course will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 14 to 18 at Central Maine Medical Center. Those attending should provide their own lunch.

Dealing daily with children or teenagers who are victims of abuse can be overwhelming and confusing. The course will offer an opportunity to learn more about current child abuse and neglect issues from professionals presenting on topics in their fields of expertise.

Topics will include the legal system, working with juvenile offenders and medical perspectives of child abuse and neglect.
