RUMFORD – The Rumford Area Association of Performing Arts, under the direction of Judith Kuhn, will present its seventh annual dinner theater at Park Place on June 20, 21 and 22. Reservations can be made through Naomi Robertson (369-9422). Non-refundable tickets are $25 per person and include hors d’ouvres, the hot buffet, two one-act plays and a choral revue. A cash bar will be available. Deadline for tickets is June 13 but since the shows have sold out in previous years, early reservations are advised.
“Kiss Me Quick! I’m Double Parked” stars Peter Theriault as a dentist/bridgroom, Gail Parent as the aunt of his fiancee and Rebecca Boudreau as his receptionist/dental technician. It is the day of the wedding and there is a demonstration by picketers, an electrical failure and an injured demonstrator to deal with. Others in the play include: Al Hanington, police officer; Martha Hanington. union leader; Anita Murphy, demonstrator; Kyle Demilner, Con Edison worker; Seth Carey, a doctor; Chrissy Morroney, dentist’s fiancee; Penny Carver, an injured picketer.Kathy Foster, a delivery person; and Duane Glover, a burglar.
The RAAPA Chorus will sing “Hey! Look Me Over,” “Elvira,” “Mr. Bojangles,” “Medley of Rodgers and Hammerstein,” “Tomorrow,” “Frankie and Johnny” and “Alexander’s Ragtime Band.” Soloists will include: Wayne Landry, Duane Glover, Seth Carey, Jim Robertson, Jeanine Murray, Ken Murray, Barbara Hammond, Lori Chartier and Kathy Foster. Gail Dorr is the accompanist for the chorus.
The second play, “Just Desserts,” concerns a dysfunctional family which has gathered for the reading of a will. The actors are: Nancy Demilner, Jim Robertson, Duane Glover, Kathy Foster, Gail Parent, Wayne Landry, Kelli Olson and Connie Venskus.
Characters include two eccentric sisters of the deceased (Desmond Clairborn), his niece, his grand nephew, his son and Marilyn Monroe look-alike wife, his secretary and the lawyer.
Both plays are produced by special arrangement with Samuel French Inc.
