LEWISTON – The Franco-American Heritage Center at St. Mary’s held a fund-raising concert a few months ago and the money raised was matched by Modern Woodmen of America.

The center is conducting a $4.5 million capital campaign to restore the former St. Mary’s Church and convert it into a performance hall, learning center and heritage museum. The money received from Modern Woodmen will go toward interior renovations that are under way in the facility.

Rita Dube, center executive director, said, “Renovations to the interior are soon to be very evident as changes are taking place on a daily basis. Work on the outside is moving ahead as scheduled, and things are looking up. It is thanks to the generosity of businesses such as Modern Woodmen that this project continues to succeed.”
