AUBURN – Central Maine Self-Learners Homeschool Group recently held the fourth annual Shared Learning Day at High Street Congregational Church.

Shared Learning Day is an opportunity for homeschoolers to share something they are learning about. Twenty-four home-schooled children participated with exhibits ranging from Old Sturbridge Village, puppy care, bridges to frogs, Egypt, Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches and the solar system.

Performances included a juggling act with a diabolo, Japanese speaking and skits on issues like Betsy Ross and women’s voting rights. Each child was given a certificate from group coordinator, Suzanne Cook.

“We look forward to Shared Learning Day each year,” Cook said. “It’s nice to give the children a chance to share something that interests them in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere with no judging or competition.”
