DURHAM – Sarah M. Nason of Durham, CMA, passed the American Association of Medical Assistants Certified Medical Assistant certification/recertification examination for medical assistants on Jan. 30, earning the credential.
Nason is a graduate of the medical assisting program at Hesser College, Portsmouth, N.H., and is employed by Allergy and Asthma Associates of Central Maine, Lewiston and Falmouth.
The exam, administered by the association’s certifying board, tests clinical and administrative knowledge needed for competent medical assisting practice. Although medical assistants are employed in a wide range of health career delivery settings, they are the only allied health practitioners trained specifically for the physician’s office.
