Auditions set
LEWISTON – Auditions for the new season of the Androscoggin Chorale are scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Olin Arts Center of Bates College. Interested singers should contact John Corrie, interim artistic director, at 786-6409 to schedule a 15-minute audition.
There is no need for a prepared composition; music will be provided and there will be no sight-reading. Benjamin Britten’s “Ceremony of Carols” and the Brahms “Requiem” will be performed during the Maine Music Society’s 2006-2007 season.
Block party
LEWISTON – The 100 Pine Social Center will have a “Block Party” from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2. Pierce Street will be blocked off between Pine and Ash Streets.
It is a fundraising event with a yard sale, bake sale, craft sale, barbecue, car wash and other events.
Market outreach
LEWISTON – The Lewiston Farmers’ Market will offer outreach to seniors from the Center for Senior Medicine from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, at Kennedy Park, corner of Bates and Pine streets.
There will be fresh, locally-grown produce, baked goods, cooking demonstrations, free recipes, food samples and booths with information on health and wellness.

Panic relief
LEWISTON – Panic Relief Inc. will sponsor a program on panic and anxiety disorder. A group is forming. Programs will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Mondays and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays in Lewiston.
The program is geared to help anyone suffering from panic, anxiety and agoraphobia to cope with the disorders. The program will teach how to control panic attacks and anticipatory anxiety and how attitudes and current thoughts affect panic and anxiety.

Teenior knitting
AUBURN – Auburn Public Library Teenior Knitting Club is specially geared for ages teens to older adults. The club welcomes newcomers with intermediate skills to bring their own projects to work on and to trouble shoot with fellow knitting club members.
The club will meet alternating mornings and evenings during during the fall, and on Thursday, Dec. 7, the club will meet to share some finished products.
Meeting dates and times on Thursdays are 10 a.m. Sept. 7 and 21, Oct. 5 and 19 and Nov. 2 and 16, and 6 p.m. Sept. 14 and 28, Oct. 12 and 26 and Nov. 9 and 30.
Scottish dancing
TOPSHAM – Scottish country dancing lessons will be offered starting Thursday, Sept. 7, at the Topsham Grange, Pleasant Street. No partners are needed. Pleasant Street in Topsham.
The beginner’s class will be held at 6 p.m.; general class from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Donation are $3 a class. Singles and couples are welcome. For information, contact instructor Patti Tillotson at 833-2329.
