College workshop
LEWISTON – Maine Educational Opportunity Center Adviser Christy Le will present an “Essentials of College Planning” workshop from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, at the Lewiston CareerCenter, 5 Mollison Way.
Adults considering college are invited to participate in the free college-planning workshop. Call 1-800-281-3703 to register.
The center helps adult students to overcome class, social, academic and cultural barriers to higher education. Services include assistance in choosing a college, tutoring, personal and financial counseling, career counseling, assistance in applying to college, workplace and college visits and assistance in applying for financial aid.
Farmers’ market
LEWISTON – The Lewiston Farmers’ Market will be open from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, in Kennedy Park near the corner of Bates and Pine streets.
There will be fresh local produce and flowers, baked goods, cooking demonstrations, free recipes and food samples, and booths with information on health and wellness.

Blood drive
WINTHROP – There will be a community blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, at St. Francis Xavier Parish Hall, Lake Street.
The drive is open to all donors. A form of identification is required.
Celebrates 95
LEWISTON – Irene Beaulieu celebrated her 95th birthday on Aug. 13 at d’Youville Pavilion. Her sister, Rita, and many nieces and nephews as well as invited guests joined to help her celebrate. Beaulieu has been a lifetime resident of Lewiston and a member of Saints Peter and Paul Basilica.
Class reunion
LEWISTON – Lewiston High School Class of 2001 will hold a five-year reunion on Saturday, Nov. 25, at the Carriage House.

Screenings set
LEWISTON – Life Line Screening will be at the Thomas Memorial Baptist Church, 62 Strawberry Ave., on Monday, Sept. 11. Appointments will begin at 10 a.m.
Screenings involve the use of ultrasound technology and scan for potential health problems related to blocked arteries, aortic aneurysms and hardening of the arteries in the legs. A bone density screening is also offered.
Each screening requires 10 minutes or less to complete. A vascular screening package is $109. A vascular package and the osteoporosis screening is $129.

Grange outing
AUBURN – Members of Danville Junction Grange will gather for their annual summer outing at the Hatch Farm in Wales at 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24. People are asked to bring lawn chairs, their lunch and a salad or dessert to share. A grill will be available for those wishing to cook.
Members who have kept a reading list throughout the year for the reading contest should turn in their lists. All members and guests welcome.
