ATV club to meet
PARIS – The Extra Mile ATV Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, at the town office.
Society picnic
OTISFIELD – The Historical Society’s annual picnic is scheduled for noon Sunday, Aug. 13, at Scribner’s Mill. John and Marilyn Hatch have agreed to give those attending a tour of the sawmill and their home. Bring lunch, something to share and a folding chair. The society will provide beverages.
Family fun day
OXFORD – The Lake Thompson Fish and Game Club will hold a family fun day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13, at the clubhouse. This is for club members, their families and friends. Rain date will be Sunday, Aug. 20. There will be a running deer shoot, a trap shoot and an archery novelty shoot. The club will furnish hot dogs; bring beverages. The club is in recess until Thursday, Sept. 7.
Yard, bake sale
WEST PARIS – The Historical Society’s annual summer yard and bake sale will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12.
Chamber clambake
PARIS – The Oxford Hills Rotary Club invites employers, employees, friends and relatives to its annual lobster and clambake from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.
The event will be held under the tents, rain or shine. Ticket costs are $17 in advance and $20 the day of the event. Take-out meals are also available. College planning
PARIS – Adults considering college are invited to participate in a free college-planning workshop sponsored by the Maine Educational Opportunity Center to be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, at the South Paris Career Center, 232 Main St.
The center helps adults students to overcome class, social, academic and cultural barriers to higher education. Service include assistance in choosing a college, tutoring, personal and financial counseling, career counseling, assistance in applying to college, workplace and college visits and assistance in applying for financial aid.
