UNITY – The Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association will host its annual spring growth conference on Saturday, April 3, at the Common Ground Education Center. The theme is “Who’s Your Farmer?: Maine’s Growing Consumer-Supported Agriculture Movement.”
The conference will feature presentations from three farmers, one from Sabattus, with knowledge of consumer-supported agriculture.
Jill Agnew of Willow Pond, Sabattus, was Maine’s first CSA farmer. She will talk about her experiences running her program and her recent decision to scale up operations.
The conference is open to the public but is geared toward farmers and market gardeners who are interested in developing a base of local customers.
The registration fees, which include lunch, are $35 for an individual and $50 for two people from the same farm. There is a $10 discount for apprentices and students. Checks should be made payable to MOFGA, and sent to MOFGA Spring Growth Conference 2004, PO Box 170, Unity, ME 04988. For more information or to register by phone call 568-4142.
