FREEPORT – The May Center for Child Development, a day school for children ages 2 to 8 with autism, pervasive developmental disorder and other developmental disabilities, has received a three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation and Rehabilitation Facilities for its child and youth services.
“This achievement is an indication of the May Center’s dedication and commitment to improving the quality of the lives of persons receiving its services,” reported the commission.
Accreditation is granted to organizations that exhibit substantial fulfillment of those standards established by the commission. May Center’s three-year accreditation is a result of having undergone a rigorous peer review process and a demonstration of programs and services of the highest quality, measurability and accountability.
The center is a program of the May Institute, a private, nonprofit organization. The May Center provides educational services for Maine children with autism and other developmental disabilities, as well as in-home support services and consultation and training to Maine schools.
