I have just recently read a book called ‘Speak,’ by Laurie Halse Anderson. It is a darkly funny novel about a teenage girl who became an outcast after calling the cops and busting a summer party. Her friends did not understand her reasons for calling the police and disowned her. Come to fine out, she was raped by a teenage boy who attends her school. She was under the influence of alcohol when she was raped.

She is assigned an art project, that in a way lets her emotions out. This book is touching and I am sure many teenage girls could relate to this book in different ways.

Anderson writes so wonderfully and gives great detail. She describes the characters in such a way that it seems as if you know the characters. She makes the reader grow to know the characters.

It is a wonderful book of anger, sadness, family problems, secret places, and much, much more.

If I were to rate it on a scale of one to tan, ten being the highest, then I would probably give it an eight. It is certainly a book to read.
