AUGUSTA – Boy Scout Troop 410 of Vassalboro has constructed a memorial walkway at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road.
Their 212-hour project was supervised by Eagle Scout Josh Buckle and David Richmond, cemetery superintendent. The walkway begins at the administration building and goes to the flagpoles in the Memorial Circle.
People who would like to recognize or remember a loved one may purchase a monument to be placed on each side of the walkway. Several veterans’ organizations and auxiliaries have already purchased monuments, which will be placed in the spring.
For more information, people can contact Arthur J. Roy, chairman, 784-6883, or the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 287-3481, from 2 to 4 p.m. weekdays.
