JAY — Police are investigating a report of a tenth vehicle having its window shot out or shattered by BB’s, Police Chief Richard Caton IV said Wednesday.
Five private vehicles and three construction vehicles were reported struck over the holiday weekend on Old Jay Hill Road in North Jay. A sixth private vehicle was struck in the door by a BB while it was being driven on Route 4 near the transfer station.
Damage to the vehicles and construction equipment well exceeds $3,000, he said.
Police received a report on Tuesday of a side window in a vehicle belonging to an employee of Franklin Saving Bank on Main Street being shot out while it was parked in the parking lot, Caton said.
The bank is located within a mile of the Livermore Falls line.
Jay police were tied up on a drug case and Livermore Falls police were called to assist at the bank.
The employee was leaving work at about 3:40 p.m. and noticed the window had been shout out a by BB, Livermore Falls Police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said.
Lt. Joseph Sage went to the bank parking lot to take a report and to take photos of the damage, he said.
Jay Cpl. Jeffrey Fournier will continue the investigation.
