WOODSTOCK – A Rumford man was charged Friday night with striking his ex-girlfriend with a vehicle as he attempted to take it from her driveway on Redding Road.

Ronald Duguay, 48, of Kennebec Street was arrested at his mother’s home in Rumford and charged with domestic violence reckless conduct and domestic violence assault, Oxford County Deputy Sheriff Michael Halacy said.

His former girlfriend, Jennifer Redding, 47, of 1117 Redding Road was treated at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway for injuries to her left shoulder and hip, the investigator said.

Halacy said he learned there is an ongoing civil dispute between Redding and Duguay over ownership of a 1998 Jeep Cherokee parked at her home.

“Duguay, on advice of his attorney, went to her house and attempted to leave with the Jeep,” he said.

It got stuck in snow and he began rocking it back and forth when Redding came out of the house, came to the driver’s door and demanded he leave her vehicle alone.

“In the course of this rocking back and forth,” Halacy said, “at some point, Jennifer states she was knocked down by the Jeep. She has a large abrasion on her left hip and shoulder. She was able to walk.”
