WEST PARIS – With about 50 people in attendance Saturday, the 2009 municipal elections were held with three seats to be filled.

For selectman, assessor and overseer of the poor, current selectmen chair and 17-year veteran of municipal government Wade Rainey was given another three-year term. Rainey ran unopposed.

For the board of directors for the West Paris Water District, longtime board member Philip Edmunds was elected again for a three-year term. Edmunds also ran unopposed.

For the only contested seat, newcomer Wendy Newmeyer won a three-year term representing the town on the Board of Directors for SAD 17. Newmeyer won the seat by defeating Veronica Poland 18 to 13.

Candidates take over their positions immediately.
