GREENWOOD – A man was arrested Monday in connection with an assault that took place at a Greenwood party in late July.

Seamus Foley, 20, of Bisbeetown Road in North Waterford was charged with Class B aggravated assault. He is accused of punching 44-year-old Anthony Martin of Paris in the face.

According to an affidavit by Trooper Kyle Tilsley of the Maine State Police, Martin’s jaw was broken and required surgery.

Foley told police that he had been drinking prior to the incident and that Martin had been “running his mouth” during the party, the affidavit said. Martin said the attack was unprovoked, the report stated.

Foley was initially held on $20,000 cash or $75,000 surety bail. He was released Wednesday after his initial appearance in South Paris District Court. Judge John McElwee ordered that his bail be reduced to $500, along with conditions that Foley not use or possess alcohol or illegal drugs.

and have no contact with Martin.
