Poland Spring Academy
Now the school is introducing an exciting new learning experience for its eighty students. It is called the “Therapeutic Riding Program”.
This is a program that offers the kids and young adults attending Poland Spring Academy the opportunity to “saddle up” on one of the two horses donated to the school.
“Students will be taught proper horsemanship skills” says Jeanne Kaulback, who has worked with horses for many years now, and who will be running this program along with Gary Howard. He also took the pictures added along with the article. Jeanne adds, “The students will learn safety, riding, care, learning how to communicate with the horses as well as learning how to understand the horses communicating with you!” The Participants will also learn about the Horses health issues including but not limited too, feeding and basic vet care.
There is great excitement in the air at Poland Spring Academy that came along with the arrival of 26-year-old quarter horse, Lady and the 15-year-old standard bred. Hummer. The horses were welcomed to the school on Sunday Afternoon. With it being only a few
days at their new home, they are still adjusting to the new surroundings. But Poland Spring Academy is very hopeful that the houses will be available to ride in a few days.
I recently got the chance of meeting these two beauties and. along with the other students, am very excited to be taking part in this great experience that Poland Spring Academy has provided.
We recognized how lucky we are to receive these two gifts and are glad to share our enthusiasm with you in our first article of the Advocate. This donation is greatly appreciated and the non-profit school is still taking any donations for horse equipment and financial help. Which would be tax deductible as well. If you would like to give a donation or for more information you may contact Jeanne Kaulback or Gary Howard at Poland Spring Academy at 998-4566.
