PARIS – A 27-year-old Paris man received a deferred jail sentence Friday after pleading guilty to growing and selling marijuana.
T. James Devlin, of 47 Nichols St., pleaded in Oxford County Superior Court to charges of aggravated trafficking and cultivation of marijuana.
Justice Roland Cole allowed Devlin to stay out of jail for the next 15 months with conditions, including no criminal activity.
At the end of 15 months, he has the opportunity to plead to misdemeanor drug trafficking and be sentenced. However, Devlin will voluntarily start serving 60 days in jail Oct. 6, which will count toward that future sentence.
According to court documents, police seized eight marijuana plants from Devlin’s residence during a search last September, along with scales, a sales ledger and processed marijuana. Police also seized a .40-caliber handgun and .22-caliber rifle, which Devlin forfeited as part of the plea.
