BETHEL – Smoke seen coming from a Broad Street house undergoing renovations on Thursday morning, prompted a visit from nearby firefighters.
According to fire Chief Michael Jodrey, the call about 10 a.m. at the former Charles and Edith Seashore house was a nonfire issue.
Jodrey said that due to ongoing work, plastic sheeting was up while the chimney was being torn down, and the furnace was inadvertently restarted, melting plastic in the area.
“There was smoke and melted plastic, but no fire. There was zero damage,” Jodrey said.
