BUCKFIELD – Polls will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Municipal Building for voters to act on a warrant and elect town officers.

Running for a three-year term for selectman are Roger Bennett and Floyd Richardson Jr.

Running for two seats on the SAD 39 board for three years each are Maida Demers-Dobson, Jason Rowe and Jerald Wiley.

The SAD 39 budget was approved June 3. On Tuesday, voters will ratify it with a yes or no vote. If it fails to pass, it goes back to the School Committee to start over.

The proposed school budget for 2008-09 is $7,029,073, which is $123,060 more than this year. Superintendent Rick Colpitts said much of the increase is due to fuel costs.

The annual town meeting will take place in the Buckfield Junior-Senior High School auditorium at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 11.

The warrant of 47 articles reflects a budget of $1.9 million. That amount is $34.08 below the state spending limit. The tax rate is expected to be $19.85 per $1,000 of valuation.

There are articles asking the creation of a public works director position, authorization to purchase of a new bucket loader for up to $75,000, $4,200 for the Jesse Kimball Memorial Gymnasium, and $2,800 for civil emergency preparedness.
