OXFORD – The SAD 17 Board of Directors is set to act on a number of new appointments and hear an update on opening day activities when it meets tonight.
It’s a day later than usual because of the Labor Day holiday.
Board members will get an update on last week’s school opening activities. The board will also act on a recommendation by the Personnel Committee to authorize Superintendent Mark Eastman to expand a half-time chemistry position to full time. It would accommodate the higher enrollment and be funded from transfer savings, according to information from the superintendent’s office.
The board will also act on a recommendation to increase pay for supervision of the Saturday detentions from $40 to $50 for the four-hour sessions and accept $2,529 from the Paris Elementary PTO for 18 new wooden bookcases.
Seven new staff members will also be approved by board members. They include several regular and special education and library technicians at the elementary schools, two special education technicians at the high school, and a food service manager at the middle school and West Paris Elementary School.
The meeting gets under way at 7 p.m. tonight in the central office at 1570 Main St. in the Oxford Plaza.
