PARIS – If it was Morris the Moose, he should have realized there’s no school in July.

Drivers on Main Street near Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School on Thursday afternoon were witnesses to a bull moose wandering about the area before heading in the direction of Norway.

“It happens about once a year, about this time,” Officer Ron Cole of the Paris Police Department said.

Cole said the Paris Police Department responded to direct traffic after receiving calls that a moose was in the vicinity of Main Street. He said the animal crossed the athletic fields of OHCHS, then wandered over Main and Alpine streets.

Norway police Chief Robert Federico said he was informed that the moose was heading in his town’s direction, but that his department never had any contact with it.
