PARIS – Five people are running for two three-year selectmen’s seats in Tuesday’s election. They are:

George F. Coffren Jr., 58, of Gothic Street, is retired from 25 years of work for General Electric. He served on the budget committee and planning board, and Oxford County Regional Solid Waste Committee. He is a graduate of the University of Maine, a member of the Norway-Paris Kiwanis Club, and an evangelist at the Oxford Hills Church of Christ.

David W. Ivey, 48, of Cairns Farm Road, served as a selectman in Oxford for six years. He is a college graduate and works as a motor home and recreational vehicle salesman. He is a past president of the Oxford Hills Athletic Boosters.

Barbara N. Payne, 68, of Hillside Ave., has served three years as a selectwoman, including one year as chairwoman. She is a graduate of Paris High School and retired. Her activities include the Paris Cape Historical Society, the Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine, and Stephens Volunteer Services.

Harry L. Sims, 38, of Nichol Street, is a house manager for Medical Care Development and part-time patrolman for the Norway Police Department and Oxford County Sheriff’s Office. He received an associate’s degree from Southern Maine Technical College and is working toward his bachelor’s degree at the University of Maine. He is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and the international karate organization Kyokushin Kai Kan.

Glen W. Young, 48, of High Street, owns and operates Young’s Greenhouse on High Street. He is a graduate of Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. He is also a member of the Moss Brook Community Church and the Oxford County Fair.
