PARIS – The Budget Committee is recommending a municipal spending package of $5,587,572.85 for the coming fiscal year, which begins July 1. That’s $139,885 more than this year’s budget.

Selectmen have approved the budget, which goes to voters at the annual town meeting at 10 a.m. June 16 at the Paris Fire Department.

The largest increase is debt service, up $58,793 over last year due to payments for two fire engines and a road grader, Town Manager Sharon Jackson said.

The largest decrease is capital improvements, which is $34,500 less than last year.

Other significant changes are the highway department, up $38,017; police department, up $25,957; administrative services, up $18,263.

The SAD 17 assessment is down by $4,675, to $2,102,619 for 2007-2008.
