NEWRY – Sunday River will host its annual Parrot Head Weekend from Friday, March 30, to Sunday, April 1. The resort will donate $10,000 of the event’s proceeds to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and the organizers will raise extra money through raffles and other events.

The event is organized by the Parrot Head Club of Maine, part of an international organization of such clubs called Parrot Heads in Paradise Inc. According to the Parrot Heads official Web site, the clubs’ purpose is to “assist in community and environmental concerns and provide a variety of social activities for people who are interested in the music of Jimmy Buffet.” The weekend’s events will include live entertainment, pond skimming on skis, a margarita mix-off, and a key lime pie-eating contest.

Sunday River’s Bust n’ Burn mogul competition will take place concurrently on March 31 and April 1.
