BUCKFIELD – A Mechanic Falls woman was injured Thursday morning when her car went airborne off Route 124, Oxford County Deputy Brian Landis said Friday night.

Barbara Campbell, 77, of Pleasant Street was driving alone on Route 124 about 9:45 a.m. Thursday, the deputy said, and failed to stop at the intersection on North Hill Road. The car hit an embankment, flew into the air and landed upside down about 75 feet off the road, he said. Campbell was wearing a seat belt.

Buckfield Rescue and the Buckfield Fire Department responded.

Campbell was taken to Central Maine Medical Center for treatment, but a report on her condition was not available Friday night.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, said Landis, who was assisted by Sheriff Wayne Gallant.
