PARIS – A toy gun in the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School parking lot prompted a police response about 3 p.m. Monday.

A parent called authorities after seeing two people in the parking lot with a gun that looked real.

When police caught up with a 17-year-old identified in the incident, “the gun was clearly a toy,” said Lt. Michael Dailey of the Paris Police Department.

Dailey said that police have not caught up with another person who may have been involved, but it does not look like any charges will be pressed.

The Norway, Paris and Oxford police departments responded to the school, along with two cruisers from the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office.

Dailey said he did not know why the student chose to play with the toy gun in the parking lot.

School Principal Ted Moccia declined to comment on the incident.
