OXFORD – An accident on Main Street Sunday afternoon sent four people, including two juveniles, to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police officer Shane Thomas said the accident occurred at 1:30 p.m. when Hilary Smith, 21, of New Gloucester, who was driving south, attempted to make a left-hand turn into the parking lot of the Candle Place and entered the path of a north-bound vehicle driven by Jennifer Morin, 33, of Waterford.

“Both vehicles’ right front-ends collided with each other,” Thomas said. “Not quite a head-on collision, but pretty darn close.”

Passengers in Morin’s car, a 10- and a 15-year-old, were treated for abrasions and lacerations to the face and neck pain at an unspecified hospital, Thomas said.

Both Morin and Smith were treated for non-life threatening head injuries, he added. Information on their conditions was not available Sunday night.

Damages to Smith’s 1997 Jeep Cherokee was estimated at $4,000; to Morin’s 2001 Pontiac, $5,000.

Investigating the accident on Sunday was officer Alan Coffin.
