OXFORD – The Oxford Hills School District is searching for a new assistant superintendent.
It’s a position the district had in the past, and after reviewing central office staffing, the school board felt it was still necessary, said Superintendent Mark Eastman.
“I recommended to the board that we review the current staffing,” Eastman said. “Our decision overall is that (we needed to) hire someone.”
School officials hope to fill the position July 1, Eastman said.
The assistant’s position will be similar to before, but with “a few tweaks,” Eastman said.
The person hired will be in charge of human resources, personnel and contract negotiations, day-to-day problem-solving and be able to step into Eastman’s shoes if he is unavailable, Eastman said.
The person must be certified as an assistant superintendent and typically would have a master’s degree and experience in administration, Eastman said.
Board Chairman Dale Piirainen said directors are mostly looking for experience, and “looking for someone who can step in and do the job.”
The board is taking applications until Dec. 15, then it will plan interviews and site visits.
Eastman said the district has received six applications so far, and expect more toward the end of the month.
