NORWAY – Maine’s Director of Energy Independence and Security, Beth Nagusky, will lead a discussion on oil production with the Running on Empty group at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Fare Share Commons, 443 Main St.
Nagusky is slated to give a presentation on peak oil, the theory that the production of oil both domestically and globally must soon peak and decline, and how individuals and governments might best respond as this peak approaches, according to ROE organizer Tom Whitney.
The meeting is free and open to the public, and there will be a question-and-answer period after Nagusky’s presentation.
Running on Empty began in October 2005 when Whitney invited author John Howe to speak on the subject of his self-published book, “The End of Fossil Energy and the Last Chance for Sustainability.”
Since then, Running on Empty has been meeting monthly to discuss topics of “the looming prospect of a progressive shortage of fossil fuels,” according to a flyer.
