BUCKFIELD – The Buckfield Inn will reopen at 5 p.m. Oct. 5 under the management of Christine Lebel and Pamela Forman.
Lebel is a former chef at the inn, and Forman worked there as a server. Between them, they have 40 years of experience in restaurants.
Owner Russell Clark opened the former bed and breakfast in September 2003 and closed it early this year because the business had grown to the point where it was too stressful for him, he said.
Lebel, who lives on Streaked Mountain with her husband, Jamey, said she and Forman were sad when the business closed, and they started looking for a way to reopen it.
Forman will continue as a server, as well as tending bar. Her bookkeeping experience will be an asset as well, she said.
Lebel said they intend to keep the menu similar to what it was, offering what they call “French peasant” food. “This is my passion,” she said.
They will also keep the popular pasta night, which will be moved to Wednesday.
The new dinner hours will be 5 to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
Breakfast will be served from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, and Sunday brunch will be served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Breakfast offerings range from the traditional foods to Finnish pancakes. Dinners will include steak, fish and chicken dishes, and pastas in 10 varieties.
The 1840s farmhouse at 60 Turner St. is licensed to serve 40 patrons in the three candlelit rooms with linen-covered tables.
