LOVELL – A Lovell man was arrested on a charge of assaulting his estranged wife Monday night after police persuaded him to leave her house on Debbie Lane. He had left firearms outside the home before shutting himself inside, Lt. James P. Miclon said.

Lt. Christopher Wainwright said the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a disturbance at the residence.

Kelly Ann Eastman made the call at 7 p.m. when her estranged husband, Ricky James Eastman, came into her home on Debbie Lane to discuss a divorce, Miclon said. When she refused to discuss the matter, he assaulted her and ran into the woods with firearms from the house, he said.

Kelly Eastman called 911 and left the house, but her husband came back there when deputies arrived, the officers said.

Miclon and Wainwright were joined by three other deputies, two Maine State Police troopers, and officers from the Fryeburg and Bridgton police departments. The Lovell Fire Department and Stoneham Rescue were also at the scene.

Ricky James Eastman had left a rifle and other firearms outside when he shut himself in the house, Miclon said. Once police secured the scene, they tried to make phone contact with Eastman but were unsuccessful. Finally, Wainwright persuaded Eastman to come out, and he was arrested on a charge of assault at 9:15 p.m. He was taken to the Oxford County Jail in Paris, where bail was set at $25,000. According to jail records, he is 37 years old and lists his address as 2 Debbie Lane.

Eastman was arraigned in 11th District Court in Rumford early Tuesday morning, where bail was lowered to $1,000. He was released on unsecured bail Tuesday afternoon pending a hearing in 9th District Court in Bridgton.
