OXFORD – The Board of Selectmen during its meeting Thursday night authorized Town Manager Michael Chammings to issue a quitclaim deed on the Knightly property on Route 26, which Lampron Energy Inc. hopes to buy.
“We have had problems with liens and notification processes in the past,” Chammings said. “Usually, time takes care of this.”
Lampron Energy is trying to purchase a portion of the Knightly property. There appears to be problems with the land records, which can be resolved with a deed, Chammings explained.
“I didn’t want to hold up the Lampron property, and this seems to be the easiest way to resolve the recording problems,” Chammings said.
After Selectman Lois Pike was assured the quitclaim deed would resolve the issue, the board authorized issuing the deed. It can be issued after Chammings is satisfied a deed is necessary to correct recording problems and upon payment of all outstanding taxes, interest and costs.
In other business, the board appointed David Olson to the Budget Committee and the Cemetery Committee.
The panel also approved using the Oxford Legion Hall for a bingo fund-raiser for Community Child Care in Norway on April 17.
