NORWAY – Healthy Oxford Hills has invited people from other community health coalitions from the region to a panel discussion Friday at the Ripley Medical Building.
The meeting will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Harper conference room. A healthy lunch will be provided.
On hand will be Patty Duguay of the River Valley Healthy Community Coalition in Rumford, Carmen Lone of the Lake Region Healthy Community Coalition in Bridgton and Joanne Joy of Southern Kennebec Healthy Communities.
Ken Morse, director of Healthy Oxford Hills, has called the meeting to increase awareness of the work of the Oxford Hills organization and to find ways to “take our mutual efforts to a new level.”
All healthy community coalitions are administered by the Maine Bureau of Health, using funds provided by the federal tobacco settlement.
Morse wants to hear about the quality-of-life issues the public feels are most important for Healthy Oxford Hills to focus on. Included in a broad definition of community health are such issues as: a diverse economy with good jobs offering living wages; safe and affordable housing; respect for natural, historical and cultural resources; and quality health care services for all stages of life.
The meeting is co-sponsored by Oxford Hills GrantsNet and Healthy Oxford Hills. For more information, call 743-1562, extension 776.
