PARIS – The Paris Cape Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 15, at the new museum, the Porter Homestead, 77 High St. Ben Conant of South Paris will give a presentation on the early 1800s physicians of Paris and features of their practices. Refreshments will follow the meeting. The museum is open for viewing and research from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursdays, and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. The PCHS will have a booth at Founder’s Day on Paris Hill, July 17. The updated version of South Paris and West Paris cemeteries, now in two volumes, will be available for purchase along with many other items of interest.
Christian Women United to meet
PARIS – Christian Women United will meet beginning with a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, at the First Congregational Church. Guest speaker will be Lloyd Waterhouse of West Paris. Redevlopment vision unveiled
NORWAY – The public is invited to listen to graduate student Janis Plummer present the results of her graduate thesis work on Norway’s historic downtown and present some redevelopment visions for the C.B. Cummings Mill from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, July 16, at the Norway Town Office Community Room, Danforth Street. Plummer comes from Maine and is now completing her architectural graduate work at Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Ga. Variety show at church
OTISFIELD – The teens of the Spurr’s Corner Church will hold a variety show at 8 p.m. Friday, July 16, at the church, Route 121. Included will be music, comedy and skits in an intimate setting. Admission is $6 and includes dessert selections. This is the final event for the teens who have been planning and working for several months to raise funds for their upcoming trip to Phoenix, Ariz., to attend the Life Youth Conference held once every three years. The four-day event features nationally known speakers and musicians with activities and seminars focused on spiritual development. Mime, dance artist to perform
HARRISON – The Deertrees Theatre and Cultural Center will present “Tranzpiel” at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Today, July 14, at the theatre on Deertrees Road, as part of Children’s Wednesday programs. Karen Montanaro blends mime and dance to create a mesmerizing theatrical experience. Admission is $5 and $4.
Musical lampoon begins Saturday

Oxford County Democrats meet
MEXICO – The Oxford County Democrats will meet on Thursday, July 22, at 6:30 p.m. at the Mexico Town Hall for their regular monthly meeting, preceded by a pot-luck supper at 5:30. Linda Petrie, candidate for the House of Representatives in District 93; Rep. John Patrick, House District 92; and Sen. Bruce Bryant, District 14, will welcome Democrats to the northern end of the county for the supper and meeting. NORWAY – Norway is pleased to announce this year’s Norway Christmas ornament will feature L.F. Pike & Son also known as “The Blue Store.” The ornament was designed and manufactured by Frog’s Leap Designs and is made of native hardwoods.
